Small Moves Lead to Big Changes

It is no secret that making some small moves can lead to big changes. I'm experiencing this in my own personal life and health. Eating right and adding some simple moves whether it's walking or stretching is making quite the dramatic effect on my overall health. Here's some ideas to help you get started. Just make the quality decision that you will never stop and that you will fight through delays and you are well on your way to a better you. If you need help with any of these, please contact me (info below).

One: Learn to pay attention to your body. For the most part, it will tell you what it needs. Otherwise, take command over those urges to eat unhealthy foods. You can do it!

Two: Learn the difference between good and bad fats. You want to stay away from saturated fats and trans fats. Look for mono and poly unsaturated fats instead. You must understand, fat is still fat, so don't overconsume. If you pay attention to your body and working with your doctor, you should be able to gain better health every day. When I cook (which is not very often), I use Bertoli's Olive Oil - the one with the golden label. Usually, a tablespoon is good enough, and it's loaded with polyunsaturated fats.

Three: It's important to understand carbs. Our bodies need them for energy. Some carbs are better than others. Complex carbs are said to release energy slowly throughout the day and this helps to keep your pancreas from producing too much insulin which may trigger fat storage. If you are diabetic, this may work differently for you, so be sure to talk with your doctor.
At times, I will use a non-complex carb source if I know I'm going to do some real physical activity within the hour. This helps me to feel like I'm not totally having to give up some favs. Again, pay attention to your body because your body will respond better to certain carbs and those are the ones you want to use the most.

Four: Just start walking. I personally believe that walking is the single best move you can do to help your body. You only get one body, and one life, so we want to do the best we can. Due to certain conditions in my life, I lost complete control over my health and I'm fighting back every day to make some changes that are yielding the results I need for better health.  You can read my story here.
Walking is said to help reduce blood cholesterol, so just start. Also, drinking about 3 cups a day of Green Tea will also help reduce blood cholesterol as well. My friend, Kimberly, recently shared with me that adding a few tiny leaves of spearmint to your tea will elevate the whole experience. You should give this a try. I'm hooked! You might also want to add a couple of eucalyptus leaves as well.
