Don't Push Back from the Table

We've all heard the expression "push back from the table" when we're trying to lose weight and get our health back under control. We moms suffer this the most because we spend so much time and effort in taking care of our families.

Hi. I'm La Donna Lange Holstine and I'm here to help you achieve your health goals. I am a certified professional life coach with specialization in Diet and Nutrition. It is important to note I am neither a Dietician nor am I a Nutritionist.

When it comes to losing weight the last thing you want to do is to push back from the table. You read that right. Let me tell you a little bit of my story. In my efforts to get my health back under control, I heard that phrase a lot. I pushed myself back so far for so long that my body actually went into starvation mode where everything I ate, even healthy food, my body stored as fat. I had noticed my weight was soaring and I couldn't seem to do anything about it until I learned not to push back from the table.

My journey began in June of 2024. It took me three months to get my daily caloric intake up to my minimum of 1700 calories. You see, I had spent nearly 10 years on the road for a company and some of the locations I was sent to was over an hour away. I cannot eat breakfast that early. Some of the offices only had a 30-minute lunch and that made it difficult to find some healthy food and eat fast enough to get back to the office on time. I enjoyed working for this company, but my health suffered tremendously. In fact, my health suffered so bad I started having memory issues. Thankfully, the MRI scan came back clear.

This memory failure started in late December 2019. We had returned home from spending Christmas week with our kids and grandchildren. Note this was before Covid set in across the States. Our family uses specially prepared sheets for marking which NFL team we think will win rather than keeping up with Fantasy Football. I had a conversation with my hubby about the team I had chosen and literally three (3) seconds later, I started that conversation all over with him again. Moments later, I had asked our youngest daughter to check on her grandmother as she wasn't feeling all that perky. She came back with a full report and again, literally three (3) seconds later, I asked her again how grandma was doing. My husband looked at me and said, I think it's time we get you checked out. I started having fainting spells. After discussing this with my doctor, she informed me that my blood sugar had dropped too low. I am currently under the care of Neurology regarding some of my health issues and concerns. I had to quit working because I was afraid of passing out en-route to work or anywhere else for that matter.

So, I hope you see, why pushing back from the table is dangerous. It is not a healthy or an effective way to lose weight or to take back control of your health - your life.

I learned that to lose weight, I had to make sure I was not eating more than my body would spend each day. This is called a calorie deficit, and this is very different than pushing back from the table. This is a far more controlled and effective method for gaining one's health back while losing weight. I also learned there are some healthy foods that I should not be eating such as red apples. Apples are great, but the Green apples and the Granny Smith apples are less acidic and have less sugar. I have not weighed in on the yellow apples.

I'm on my own personal journey of healing where my overall health is concerned, and I invite you to join me. I'll share things that I've learned. And I won't bore you with silly, lengthy, videos that get you nowhere or make you buy supplements no matter how much or little they cost. I believe good health can be obtained by eating the right food and without supplements other than your normal vitamins and minerals. If you have certain health conditions such as Diabetes, you'll need to work with your doctor or health care provider.

If you are ready to make some changes and achieve better health, stick with me. I have lots of tools to share with you. To get started or to request additional info please email me at ontargetwithladonna@gmail.com.

Together, I'll help you map a way forward to losing weight, feeling better, and achieving better overall health the easy and least expensive way - with normal everyday food right from your local grocery stores.

Have a great day!

La Donna
